Speech & Debate team wins district championship

The Atlanta High School Speech & Debate team won the district championship at the UIL District Speech & Debate meet on March 30 at the Region 8 Educational Service Center.

The team took eight of the nine spots advancing to the regional competition on April 22 at Tyler Junior College.

The meet results are as follows:

Informative Speaking: Jon Kennedy, first place; Cademon Larson, third place; and Ivy Alfaro, fifth place.
Lincoln Douglas Debate: Tanner Cook, first place; Manuel Olvera, second place; Jon Kennedy, third place; and Dasia Jeffley, sixth place.
Persuasive Speaking: Autumn Cook, first place; Michael Dubuisson, second place; and Kennedy Harrison, third place.
